Hello crafty friends! Thanks for joining the blog hop celebrating Altenew's release of some amazing embossing folders. You can find all the details on Altenew's blog. If you are hopping along, you have just come from Dana Joy from Got Joy Creations and your next stop is Joy Baldwin from Create with Joy. My focus for today's post is inking these embossing folders with Altenew mixed media inks. Check out all 6 cards I made using this release. These embossing folders were generously supplied by Altenew so I could share some inspiration with you today.
Inking on embossing folders
Altenew is making the most amazingly detailed 3D embossing folders. Even though the embossing folders look great just on plain cardstock, I love the detail when the embossed image has some ink blending on it. To achieve the looks in these cards, I added Altenew Mixed Media inks to the embossed side of the folder (side with the Altenew label and name of the embossing folder). I love the Altenew Mixed Media inks because they are very easy to blend and are not streaky over the embossing folder. Since I have so many examples to share today, I will have a brief description of products used in each one. With each example, I started by swiping Altenew Mixed Media inks on the embossed side of the embossing folder and then running it through my Gemini Jr machine. I love the detail and color on each of these cards.
Pink Perfection Camellia Embossing Folder
This embossing folder has such beautiful floral details. I used Altenew Frosty Pink and Coral Berry Mixed Media Inks to ink up the background. To break up the pink, I cut the paper in half on the diagonal and added Grand Stream Washi tape flanked by Gold Foil washi tape to cover the seams. A thanks die cut from Script Words 2 ties everything together.
Organic Stones 3D embossing folder
I love the abstract and graphic design of this embossing folder. I inked up the folder using Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen mixed media inks. The ombre colors were a great complement to a left over flower from the Build A Flower Wild Rose. To give it some height, I added a vellum leaf from Hanging Garden Die set. The sentiment, hello, from the Envelope layer die set sits atop a heat embossed piece from the Linked Ovals Embossing Folder.
Frilly Peonies 3D Embossing Folder
I went with a soft look for this floral image from Frilly Peonies 3D Embossing folder by inking it up with just Frosty Pink. I cut the panel down to size and paired it with a flower from Wallpaper Art that was stamped in Charcoal Suit ink. The hello sentiment comes from the Envelope Liner die set and sits atop an embossed piece from the Linked Ovals 3d Embossing folder. I love the soft colors of this card paired with the golden shine from the Linked Ovals.
Linked Ovals 3D embossing folder & Modern Wishes Debossing folder
This may be my favorite card from the release. Let's start with the background: I inked up the Linked Ovals embossing folder with embossing ink and then sprinkled Antique Gold embossing powder over it and heat set it. The shine and distressed look of this background is amazing and I ended up using parts of it on different cards from the release. The Modern Wishes debossing folder image was inked up using Altenew Artist Markers in Caribbean Sky for BEST and Persian Blue for the wishes.
Winter Foliage 3D embossing folder
This embossing folder pairs so well with the Festive Foliage stamp and die set. To make the ombre background, I inked up the embossing folder with Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen Mixed Media inks. I then added a heart from the Festive Foliage stamp set that was stamped with Coral Berry and Ruby Red dye inks and cut it out with the coordinating die. The sentiment comes from the Festive Foliage stamp set and was embossed on black cardstock with Altenew crisp white embossing powder.
Classic Pinecones Slim 3D embossing folder
Yeah! A slim embossing folder! This embossing folder is so cool. I first inked up the folder with Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen Mixed Media Inks. I then blended embossing ink all over the pinecones and heat set them with Antique Gold embossing powder. The Merry sentiment comes from Holiday Script word dies and the BRIGHT is from the Fine Alphabet die set.
