Polar Bear Mini Delight
Hello everyone and welcome Polar Bear to the Altenew Mini Delight family. If you do not know, Mini Delight is a monthly series released by Altenew of a smaller stamp set and die. For November, the Polar Bear joins the Mini Delight family and this polar bear is absolutely delightful. I hope you are joining the talented Altenew Designers on an Instagram hop today. Please read on for how I used this polar bear in two different cards.
Mini Delight is a small stamp set with a coordinating die. For this month's release, the polar bear is a die and the stamp set comes with coordinating facial features and adorable sentiments. For both cards today, I die cut the Polar Bear from Cut Cardstock Stardream Metallic Cardstock in Pluto. I stamped the face and ear using StazOn Jet Black ink as the metallic card stock is shiny. StazOn is a permanent ink that will stamp on a multitude of surfaces.
Scene building
This little Polar Bear deserved an adorable scene to show him off. I used the Altenew Mountain Scene stencil to make a Northern Lights scene complete with mountains, treeline and a lake for the bear to explore. I love how the Mountain Scene stencil is one product that packs a lot of punch. To make the Northern Lights sky, I blended Pinkalicious from the Cherry blossom stamp set along with Hydrangea and Ultraviolet from the Enchanted Garden Ink set. The mountain comes from Morning Frost and Moon Rock inks from the Warm Grays set. The lake is blended with Arctic and Persian blue from the Glacier caves ink set. The tree line is courtesy of Frayed Leaf and Evergreen inks from the Green Fields ink set. After using the stencil to set the scene, I dripped Altenew pure white ink spray over the card and embossed the sentiment, Bear Hugs, using Altenew crisp white embossing powder. I used foam tape to add the polar bear so he could explore his new world.
Spinning card
This polar bear is adorable and adding him as an ornament or tag to a card is just delightful. First, I had to create the polar bear's scene: Using the Majestic Mistletoe stamp set, I stamped the leaves all over a 5 1/4" x 4" panel with Forest glades and firefly ink and added accents with colors from the Delectable Delights ink set. I then cut out another polar bear added glue to the front of one polar bear and the back of another and before stacking these die cuts stuck down a piece of Altenew thread in Antique Gold so that the thread was hanging out the top and bottom of the bear. I then cut out a circle from the panel, the A2 card base and a piece of fun foam that had been cut slightly smaller than the front panel. I attached the fun foam to the front panel and then attached the thread of the polar bear to the card base so that the polar bear was in the middle of the circle. Then I added the card front and fun foam to the card base. By adding the foam, it allows the polar bear the freedom to spin a bit more versus being pushed against the card base. On the back panel of the card base, I attached the cut out circle from the front panel. For the sentiment, I added a piece of red ribbon from my stash, layered a piece of vellum on top on which a sentiment had been heat embossed in Altenew Antique Gold powder. This card is really fun, gives a big wow factor and is easy to make.
