If you are hopping along, you have just come from the ridiculously talented, Tania Ahmed. Your next stop is the last stop (you're almost there!) on the hop to the very dazzling works of Nikki Kehr. Thank you for taking the time to hop along with us. This release made it easy to create some really cool paper crafting projects. Read along for how I made these projects. Inking and masking with a stencil
I am not really a clean and simple card designer. I have a hard time not adding all the things. The colors of the enamel dots just go so well together that I wanted to highlight them. With this clean and simple card, I used the Geometric stencil with a lot of masking. I used masking tape to tape off four sides of my front panel. Then I used thin washi tape to tape off space between each of the four colors I was going to use. After taping down the geometric stencil, I inked up each space with respectively: Orange Cream, Parrot, Volcano Lake and Lavender Fields crisp ink. I then added the coordinating enamel dots to each color block. The front panel was cut down to 3 3/4"x5" and adhered to a 4"x5 1/4". The sentiment is from Beautiful Quotes and was stamped in Industrial Diamond ink. This card was very simple to put together and the colors make such an impact.
Inking and embossing with a stencil
Stencils are such a versatile tool to have in your crafty stash and economical, too! For this card, I used the Feathery Stencil and The Alphabet Stencil to make this sweet baby card. To give the background some color, I blended Almond Butter ink onto the background after masking 1 1/2" vertical strip down the front of the card. After inking up the Feathery Stencil with white pigment ink, I partially embossed the background. This embossing allowed the pigment ink to sit on top of the Almond Butter ink outlining the embossed impression and giving a cool dimensional effect. On the masked strip, I used Sea Shore Ink set to blend B A B Y onto the masked strip. I left a 1 1/4" space between A and the second B to allow for SWEET to fit. The Sweet from the Script Words 3 die set was die cut 4 times from black cardstock and the die cuts were stacked for dimension. The sub sentiment is from the Needlework Motif stamp set and inked in all four Sea Shore ink colors to mirror the ombre effect. This release comes with enamel dots in Sea Shore which were a perfect finishing touch to this card.
Creative Cutouts
New to the Altenew family of products are Creative CutOuts. These are laser cut images from sturdy card stock. Altenew has Nested Wreaths and Moroccan Mosaic. I have two examples of how I used the Nested Wreath: on a scrapbook layout and on a card. The Nested Wreath has 9 wreaths; three of three different sizes: small (card size), medium (5x7 size) and large (scrapbook size).
For the scrapbook layout, I used the largest of the Nested Wreath Creative CutOuts. To build this page, I had to make some of the elements.
The Wreath Creative CutOuts feature three sizes. I used the smallest size on this card. Using a backdrop of black card stock really makes the cutouts stand out to emphasize the lovely details. I paired the black and white palette with warm gray tones cutting the hugs from the Script Words die set out of warm gray card stock and adding a strip of the same card stock down the side of the card. The flowers are from Peony Bouquet and stamped using the Warm Gray ink collection. The sub sentiment is from Starry Flowers stamp set and was embossed with Altenew Crisp white embossing powder. Adding the enamel dots from the Sea Shore set really adds to the elegance of this card.

Love your beautiful clean and simple card, but it is the page and card with the Creative cutouts that I most love, because I don't have an electronic cutter and so shapes like these are hard to create with just my Big Shot! Your layout is so sweet and I appreciate your clear instructions on how to complete it. The last card is absolutely stunning!

Hi Amy, it’s great to see a dramatic black and white card amongst all the colourful ones. You really did amazing work on that one, I love it. This Serenity release is a great one, with such beautiful colours, and they all work with black, white and grey...so we all have quite a palette to choose from! It’s been awesome going through everyone’s blogs and seeing what they’ve come up with...such creativity and imagination. Thank you so much for contributing. 🙏🏼👌🏼

Beautiful art work! The scrapbook page is awesome, and the ink blending with the trellis stencil matches so well with the blues in the picture! I think that my favorite part of that is the journaling - SO totally supportive and encouraging! The last card using the warm grays on the black is outstanding, too! VERY nice!
