If you are curious about becoming an Altenew Educator or are already working through the program, please email me or leave a comment below. I would be happy to share how becoming an Altenew Educator has improved my card making skills and allowed me to share my love of crafting with others.
The theme of this hop is geometric florals; the idea of combining bold geometric patterns and soft florals was so appealing. For this hop I made two cards using the technique of second generation stamping. Please read on for how I made these two cards.
Second generation stamping
Second generation stamping is the technique of stamping an image once for a bold look and a second time without re-inking for a softer look. The first generation card is bold with bright colors. The second generation card is softer and delicate.
To make these cards, I started with the Dotted Diamond background stamp. I inked up the stamp with all four colors of the Red Cosmos ink set. I inked the whole stamp with the lightest color and then randomly pounced the other three colors over the stamp making sure to go from lightest to darkest. I then spritzed the stamp with a fine mist of water to get the color moving and then stamped the image onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. I then quickly stamped the same image a second time onto a piece of Neenah solar white cardstock.
The florals of this card come from the Warm Hugs stamp set which coordinates with an image from Rose Blossom stamp set. I first stamped the outline of the floral image from the Rose Blossom stamp set in Obsidian Black ink. I then stamped the layers of the Warm Hugs stamp set continuing the second generation stamping technique. On the first generation card, I cut out the image with the Rounded Rectangles die set. One the second generation card, I stamped right onto the background. To finish off the cards, I die cut the words: Wishes and Believe and adhered them onto the card front which had already been wrapped with some string. The sub sentiments were typed out using a vintage Smith-Corona typewriter.
