Welcome crafty friends and thanks for joining me on the hop for Altenew's latest release of the CAF, Dendrobium Orchid. If you are following along on the hop, you have just come from Ishani and your next stop on the hop is Colleen Balija. Read on for some more inspiration on using the CAF Dendrobium Orchid. Altenew supplied the CAF Dendrobium Orchid Die Set for me to try out. Let's read on for how I made this bright and bold card.
Coloring Die Cuts
The CAF Dendrobium orchid die set has so many small parts to it so I decided I would color the pieces from Neenah Solar Crest white card stock instead of die cutting each piece from different colored cardstock. The Spring Garden Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers made the coloring quick and easy.
After coloring all the die cut pieces, I glued together the flowers and leaves. On a card front, I used the flowers to emboss a design. That embossed card front panel was then added to a watercolor panel that was used to take up all the extra ink from my palette as I watercolored the die cut pieces. I love the bright colors and how the watercolor panel perfectly matches the orchid colors. A sentiment from Simple Sentiments embossed with Altenew Antique Gold embossing powder onto black cardstock tones down the color and grounds the flower.

So you die cut the flowers, put them together and then used them as an embossing folder? I looks great but I have never heard of doing that before. Did it take extra shims or did you make extra thick flowers? This has sparked my curiosity.

You used so many wonderful ideas to put this card together! I will try them myself. Especially using the completed flower to use as an embossing element. Also the way you colored all the pieces.
