Hello Crafty Friends,
I am posting for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) blog hop. This hop is to honor those heroes who are on the front lines doing their job everyday to help all of us stay safe and healthy. Thank you for all you do.
If you are continuing on the hop, you have just arrived from the fabulous, Vicki Finger. After my blog, you will continue onto the amazing, Nandini Karmarkar. The full hop list is at the end of this post. You will also find information about prizes because what is an Altenew Hop without prizes!
This is no ordinary hop! You can join in the fun as well. On the Altenew Card Blog, you can add your card to the Linky Party. Any cards you make based on the hop theme of "Giving Thanks" can be linked up. Make sure to mention that you are taking part in the Altenew Educators Blog Hop and Linky Party. We would love to see what you create; so Link on Up!
For this hop today, I focused on creating colorful backgrounds and keeping the floral images simple. These cards are quick to reproduce so you can send out a lot to say thanks to all of those amazing people on the front lines. Please continue on to learn more about my cards. Affiliate links are included within this post for your convience.
Watercolor Ombre Wash
The beautiful background starts out using Altenew watercolor brush markers in Lagoon and Dusk on a piece of watercolor cardstock. After laying down a generous helping of water, brush on some bold and vibrant color with the brush markers. The color from these markers is so intense that a little goes a long way. Using the lagoon and dusk together adds some variation and deepens the color difference to show off the ombre look.
Wallpaper Art is one of my favorite floral stamp sets because the images are so bold and open which allow for a variety of techniques. Here I stamped them in Moon Rock ink to highlight the beautiful details in these images. To add texture to the card, I blended Vanilla Creme on a piece of cardstock that was then cut using the Mid-Century frame die. For a bit of color variation on the die cut, I blended Caramel Toffee ink from the center of the die cut.
I wanted the embellisments to match the flower color but these don't exist. Using orange embellisments from my stash, I used an Altenew Artist Marker in Moon Rock to color the embellishments. Perfect!
Watercolor Spotlight
This card is second in a series on colorful no fuss backgrounds. The background was made by first laying down some water in a section of watercolor cardstock. Ruby Red, Warm Sunshine and Citrus Burst Watercolor Brushes provided the color. Extra water moved the deep color around and made a vibrant background. After the color dried, I added splatters of gold metallic paint.
Wonderland is another favorite floral stamp set. These floral images were stamped in Altenew Enchanted Gold pigment ink. Using the Crystal Frame dies, I cut out a border for the sentiment from shiny gold cardstock. The sentiment is from the Crystal Frame stamp set and was stamped in Obsidian Ink and then covered with clear embossing powder.
Rainbow Stencil
Using the Beach Towel Stripes stencil, I laid down a rainbow of color being careful not to blend from one color to another. I also added DecoFoil transfer gel and foiled some of the thin lines of the stencil. A floral image from Needlework Motif stamp set stamped in Obsidian black ink made the perfect embellishment. The sentiment from Crystal Frames was stamped in Obsidian ink and then embossed with Altenew Crystal Clear Embossing powder.
