Altenew November release
Thank you for joining me on the Altenew full release for the month of November. This release holds a lot of amazing products including stamps, embossing folders, and stencils. If you are hopping along, you have just come from the unique designs of Reiko Tsuchida. Your next stop is the one and only Aga, Agnieszka Małyszek. If you want to start at the beginning of the hop, please visit the Altenew Card Blog for more information and the full hop list.
There were so many amazing products from this release so this post is photo heavy! Tell me in the comments below which is your favorite product from this release. Under each card, I have included a supply list for your convenience. If you choose to shop through these links, I receive a small commission. Thank you for your support.
One Layer Cards
There were so much variety in the products within this release that I wanted to use a unifying technique. I decided to make one layer cards (for the most part). One layer cards are tricky to make interesting because a one layer card doesn't include stacking layers of paper or die cuts. One layer cards do require some masking and other creative ideas to add depth and texture. Thank you for checking out my card designs. I hope these inspire you to try your hand at one layer cards.
Eucalyptus Jar and Pen Sketched Silhouette
This sweet stamp set also has coordinating dies and a mask stencil to help make one layer cards easy. I decided to pair this stamp set up with the Pen Sketched Silhouette from the release to make two cute cards. The technique I used was brushing color onto the stamp with Altenew Watercolor Brush markers, spritzing the stamp with water and then stamping. This gives a really dreamy effect. Using the watercolor markers allows me to get color where I want it and even add a few colors to provide shading and depth. The background for the card panel is made with the Blue Watercolor Washi tape which makes the whole card pop.

Striped Circle Stamp
The Striped Circle background stamp is easily my favorite from the release. On a 4x51/4" panel, I stamped the background in an ombre effect. I then cut out a circle in the panel and also in the same place on a card base. The hugs is die cut using the script words die set. Before using the die, I laid down the new washi from the release onto a piece of scrap cardstock. Die cutting washi is a great way to stretch your washi and get some color or pattern into your designs. This hugs sentiment is stacked with 5 more hugs and uses Altenew thread to suspend in between the card panel and the card base allowing the sentiment to spin freely. What a surprise for the recipient. To set off the hugs, I masked off a circle on the back panel of the card base and blended in some blue ink.

Sparkled Stamp set with dies and mask
The Sparkled stamp comes with coordinating dies and a coloring mask. I used all three products to make this card. Although this is not technically a one layer card because I added die cuts (only on the blue one!), the background just sets off the flowers so well. Sparkled is a layered stamp where some color is added by using the coloring stencil. The background was made by the foliage stamp set in Versamark and then covering it with Perfect Pearls.

Mandala Maker
I love repeating patterns and the Mandala maker helps to line up those stamps in the right place. This is such a versatile set and the coordinating dies help even more. In this stamp set, you first stamp the circles with the dots. These circles help you to line up your next stamps so you can build a repeating pattern. I found just using an acrylic block was more effective vs using a stamp positioner. After stamping my design, I used gems from my stash in coordinating colors to really get the sparkle on this card. The sentiment is embossed in Altenew Rose Gold Embossing powder and is from the Beautiful Quotes set. This is just a great card for an impressive thank you.

Pen Sketched Silhouette
Silhouette stamps are just so amazing and versatile. I wanted to add color to this stamp so I used my mini cubes to apply a little bit of color. I love how the texture of the linen pad came through to create a wispy look. I needed to use masking to add more flowers to the bouquets, but this card is just really ethereal looking.

Poinsettia 3-D Embossing Folder
This is my first time using a 3D embossing folder and this one is really amazing. I went a little overboard and made four cards with this one product. These are not technically one layer cards...but are pretty close.
One embossing folder - four ways
1) Keeping it as is
the white background is just so pretty. I pared it up with a poinsettia from Winter Florals stamp set (this is an exclusive collaboration between Altenew and Scrapbook.com). I love the detail from the embossing folder Supply listFor your convenience, supplies are listed below. Affiliate links are used at no cost to you. Thank you for your support.
2) inking up the embossing side
When you open up the embossing folder there are two sides. On the embossed side (has a raised edge), I used my mini ink cubes to get down some color. I then ran the folder through my machine to get this pretty and colorful outlines of the leaves. I paired it with a poinsettia and some gold trim washi tape. 3) inking up the debossing side
The other side of the embossing folder is the debossing side (has more flat surfaces). On this side I added ink and then ran it through my machine. I then used my Altenew water brush and some dye inks to add more color. To finish this card, I cut out a piece of vellum and heat embossed merry & bright with Antique gold embossing powder. 4) inking up the images with ink and colored pencils
After running a piece of paper through a 3D embossing folder, the valleys and ridges are so deep to give a sense of depth to the image. I used my dye inks and a blending brush to add color to the images. I then created more depth with colored pencils. I cut my panel down and added it to a card base that had the Altenew Gold String washi tape. Merry was cut from Altenew gold mirror cardstock using the Merry die from the Script Holiday die set. Hi Carol. The Eucalyptus is definitely a keeper set. It is so versatile and you can add blooms from any other stamp set or even cut off the branches and use it as a filler for other floral sets. Can't wait to see what you come up with
